The title of this painting has caused confusion amongst English-speakers: it means "Lovers".  The artist, who has learned to speak Greek, divides her time between Greece and Scotland and has been able to confirm this reading. She gives Greek titles to paintings executed in Xania, Crete where she has her studio. This painting is from a series titled "The Wars of Love". Its very large scale makes it an ideal decoration for any public room where entertainment is given.

"Not" is the traditional name for thick, textured artists' paper which was left NOT pressed to smoothen it.
