"The Pharaoh's Horses": mezzotint engraving by Charles Wentworth Wass after the painting by John Frederick Herring. Sheet with plate mark. British first edition. The painting had been bought by an American collector and the engraving was issued in New York shortly before the British debut. Virtually all Victorian copies of this print which appear are matted in roundels and framed. Tinted with watercolour.
This is one of the most famous equestrian images in Victorian Art.
